Patient had valentine corner of the mouth lift along with upper lip shortening (bullhorn lip shortening). The distance between her upper lip and the base of her nose was too long, contributing her upper lip to turn inward. Her natural lip volume was achieved without relying on soft tissue fillers. Soft tissue fillers like restylane, juvaderm not only could correct this problem, but would actually make the matters worse by giving her a round, not defined lip. The correct analogy would be putting a big implant on a saggy breast. The implant would do nothing to lift the breast, but further would cause the breast to sag even more because of the added weight. Same applies to lip. If the lip needs to be lifted, then the worst thing you can do is to try to correct this with injectables alone.
