A Short-Scar Breast Reduction Can Produce Beautiful Results
In order to have positive self-esteem in today’s society, people need to feel accepted and confident. Part of feeling confident is feeling great when looking in the mirror. Some women don’t like the shape or size of their breasts and this can cause self-esteem issues. Heavy sagging breasts not only create body-image issues, they also put pressure on the neck, back, and shoulders.
If you’re unhappy with the shape and weight of your breasts, then breast reduction surgery can help. Breast reduction surgery makes the breasts lighter and perkier while getting rid of chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain.
We offer the short-scar breast reduction procedure, which features the use of liposuction and a lollipop incision pattern. This technique of breast reduction surgery allows for a faster recovery time and virtually invisible incision marks. Breast reduction surgeries are especially beneficial to patients who have suffered from various social and health problems that come with dealing with breasts that are too heavy or large for their body.
Why the Short-Scar Technique Is Better
Traditional breast reduction surgery creates a large scar, which can make a woman feel self-conscious after surgery. It also carried with it the possibility of the breasts becoming flatter and sagging in the time after the procedure.
The short-scar technique is a variation of the traditional breast reduction technique that avoids problems like the ones mentioned above. With this technique, you can rest assured that not only will you not have prominent scars, the risk of flat sagging breasts is much lower.
The short-scar method also provides better control than the anchor incision, which we avoid. Short-scar breast reduction results in breasts with good upper-pole fullness and projection.
The Procedure and What to Expect
The patient will first be given general anesthesia in order to keep them comfortable and unconscious throughout the whole procedure. The surgeon will start the operation with a small incision called a lollipop incision. It has this name because of its shape – the surgeon will create a circle around the areola, followed by a line extending downwards.
The surgeon will then remove excess tissue from the bottom and the sides of the breast in order to contour them and reduce their size as desired. No tissue is removed from the top of the breasts, preserving the upper-pole fullness.
Liposuction is used to remove excess fatty tissue in the breasts during this procedure. A cannula – a thin tube with a sharp end – is inserted, and medical suction is used to remove loosened fat cells through the cannula, reducing the targeted areas in volume. Because liposuction is used, the incision can be even shorter than it would otherwise. Liposuction leads to natural and beautiful-looking results.
Once the removal of excess tissue is complete, the incisions are carefully closed using stitches. After a time, the patient is able to return home to heal and recover. Patients should follow post-surgical care directions as closely as possible in order to ensure a quick, complication-free healing process.
